Besides transparency, the idea of color was also closely considered when constructing the Times building. One of the most intriguing features of the New York Times Building is the design put in place to reflect the heat away from the building. Piano “designed the building with a dramatic double- skin curtain wall with ceramic rods that act as a sun-screen.” Additionally this arquitectural feature allows for the building to reflect colors, displaying changes depending on the way the sun shines on the building. The Times never seems to lack interactivity.

One of the most dramatic events to take place at the New York Times Building is the climbers ordeal. Over the span of two months, three different men tried to climb the New York Times Building, of which two successfully made it to the top. The first two climbers promoted messages and successfully brought attention to them as they were climbing the building. All three were placed under arrest.
The New York Times uses its architectural structure to promote transparency and successfully does so. It is definitely a must see for all the journalism lovers out there.
The New York Times Building is an open and living space, both, in its placement and in the work that is done there. Being in, what can be called the heart of the city, Times Square, adds, yet, another level of transparency to the building. People inside the building can see the world happening beneath them on the streets and civilians walking by can see Times writers.
Originally, the New York Times Building could be found at 113 Nassau Street. After two more moves moves- one to 138 Nassau Street and the next to 41 Park Row- the New York Times found its home in the Times Tower. However, after expanding, the New York Times was forced to move one more time. The project for the most recent and current New York Times Building was announced in December 2001, a project amounting around 850 million dollars.

Designed by Renzo Piano, The New York Times is mean to convey one of the most important qualities of the company to the public. Transparency. “The 52-story glass and steel structure reinforces the vales of the Times Company…. With floor to ceiling water- white glass windows, exposed steel columns and accents of red and marigold” clearly transmits transparency.
