Natives is a project that hits very close to home for me.
I was born and raised in New York and have lived in Manhattan ever since I could remember. This year I moved to Pamplona and have been homesick more often than not. I love everything about the city I used to live in and being in Pamplona definitely makes me think more about my city, the beautiful buildings constantly around me, and how they were built.
Architecture is something I've always appreciated, but what truly captures my attention are the stories behind the buildings. You discover a lot of things you'd never expect!

To be honest, before this project, architecture for me is just a lot of cold buildings made by stones or metal that is nothing romantic. I don't want to be exaggerate, but after the work I really realized how interesting and deep can be a building. It represents history, the idea of someone, a feeling… and all of that needs to be studied with patience.

Since I was born and raised in a town where the highset buildings do not go over the seventh floor, I've always been atracted to the great architecture of big cities. Inspired mainly by the great work of Anotnio Gaudí, I wanted to be an architect since I was a kid, but the love for writting got in my way, turning out ot be my real passion.
Last year I had the chance of visiting New York City and as an architecture lover, I felt like it was a true dream, so I couldn't wait to be part of this project. I hope you enjoy the result as much as I enjoyed the developing process.

Truth to be told, I’ve never been really interested on New York architecture, or even in architecture itself. My job on this website was originally and only to get every piece of audioviosual content done, but after working on this topic for about a month now, I can’t deny how interesting the topic and this city have become to me.
I won’t say that NATIVES changed my life or that I’m going to be applying to the architecture faculty from now on, but it is true that this project helped me realize about thinks I've never even thought about in the past. I’ve been able to see not only New York, but also my home town like I’ve never seen it before. Every building looks now different to me and now I truly understand all the effort and work that has been put in every single one of them.

Since the NATIVES project, architecture hadn't been that important to me. In fact, I was neutral about the topic: even that I was interested when I visited some famous landmarks, I didn't realized the importance and beauty of the area.
However, with the development of this website I am more aware of how great the topic comes to be. In addition, now I can appraise better even my hometown buildings. Because, at the end, architecture isn't so far of written art. As Frank Lloyd Wright said: "Every great architect is necessarily a great poet. He must be a great original interpreter of his time, his day, his age."
